With its deep green forests and protected swimming lakes, the Uckermark region north of Berlin is one of the most beautiful natural regions in Germany. In this tranquil natural paradise, this architectural jewel blends gently into the landscape. The Glass House - an object designed by the architect friend Sigurd Larsen together with Bastian and his wife. An object in the rural idyll, a retreat for families, friends and friends of friends.
The vision behind the architecture is tangible: an environment characterized by appealing aesthetics in harmony with its environment.
The two bedrooms, together with the spacious living and dining area facing the west side of the house, can accommodate four guests.
The floor-to-ceiling windows open an unobstructed view of the fields that surround the house. At the same time, the arrangement of the rooms allows for free movement between indoor and outdoor living. A life that is equally close to the indoors and outdoors.
The glazed gable roof, with its highly visible wooden structure, borrows from the type of farmhouses or barns found in the region. Glazed to the west, it provides an unrestricted view of the landscape and the starry night sky. Resembling a greenhouse, this special space invites creative work and lingering. The east side of the roof, on the other hand, is made of polycarbonate, which gives you a variety of projections of light, shadow and color.
The protective patron is the east-facing back of the house. Here, a curved wall of concrete block ensures that the privacy of the residents from the street is preserved. A projection at the eastern corner of the house creates a small wind-protected courtyard from which to enjoy the first rays of the morning sun.
The glass house is truly a unique place to meet, a meeting place that removes the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces and adds a new dimension to exploration.
Tourism Fee not included
A Tourism Fee is a mandatory fee that you have to pay when visiting certain tourism areas in Germany. The fee is not included in the price because it depends on where you stay, how many nights you stay, how old you are and if you're bringing your dog. The fee usually varies between €0 and €4 per adult per night, but may be 5% in certain areas, such as Berlin. It should be settled with the host upon arrival.

Highlights from Bastian
Host since January 2025
- An architecturally exceptional domicile in the middle of forests and lakes
- The interplay of natural surfaces gives the house a unique atmosphere
- The floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows allow the interior and exterior spaces to blend together
I am Bastian and I live together with my wife Julia and our son in Berlin. For a long time we have dreamed of a house in the countryside, not far from the big city and yet in the middle of nature.
Together with our long-time friend, the Danish architect Sigurd Larsen, we have fulfilled this dream with the Glass House. Our vision was to create a retreat in the countryside where my family could be together, but where many of our friends could also come to visit, to work together, to be creative and to be able to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city.
The house is a place that is constantly changing - every day feels a little different here, it's a creative space that is both close to nature and authentic.
We were able to complete the house in 2022, with my wife Julia and Sigurd leading the interior design. For me, our house triggers a variety of positive emotions. For example, I particularly enjoy the transparency and permeability of the rooms. Of course, I must especially mention the glass roof, a place of infinite space and lake views.
We feel it is a gift to be able to be so close to nature and to allow our son this immediacy.
We are very excited to share this special place so that you can also experience this magic.
