We are a family of 5 + our Golden Retriever Rica who loves being at the cabin as much as we do. The children in the house are now 13, 18 and 20 years old, and we use the cabin for both weekends and vacations, but also as a cabin office all year round. The cabin is our sanctuary, which was bought back after it was sold a few years ago. In true Norwegian cabin tradition, it was built by Caroline's grandparents in the 80s, and we are therefore so grateful that it is back in the family. The people who owned the cabin for a few years have taken very good care of it, so it has now been completely renovated with very nice and practical solutions.
The area is full of great hiking opportunities and all seasons have their charms, but we have been particularly enchanted by the summer hikes since our return. The network of trails, the snow-safe area and the possibility of downhill skiing mean that we also appreciate the long ski season. We can also highly recommend a trip to Skardbekkstupen or Skagsvola, which is Trysil's answer to Besseggen and not least Osensjøen in the summer. The cabin is also located right by Eltsjøen, where a swimming area and shelter are now being established. Eltsjøen is also well suited for fishing and pilking in winter. In fact, the Norwegian Championships in pilking were held here last year.
