Let your creativity run wild at the summer house: Make and paint Easter eggs
Are you looking for a fun Easter activity to do with the kids at your vacation home? Here’s a guide on how you can make beautiful Easter eggs to hang up in your vacation home. And you don’t even have to go any further than your own backyard.
Put on your boots and head out to buy eggs at the roadside stand around the corner or the nearest local grocery store in your vacation home area, grab your watercolors and brushes, and then you’re ready, set, go.
1. Blow out the eggs
Start by wiping down the eggs in true Corona style. Then poke a small hole with a toothpick at the top and bottom of the egg. Gently shake the egg and blow as hard as you can so that both the egg white and yolk end up in the bowl. Stir it together and make an omelet for lunch while you’re at it.
2. Get out the colors
If you already have watercolors and paintbrushes lying around, just dig them out of storage. You can also simply use the kids’ colored pencils, markers, or other art supplies.
If you want to go the natural route, you can make your own watercolors. Take the kids by the hand and go on a flower hunt in the garden. Pick the flower heads, pour boiling water over them in a small bowl, and let them sit overnight. If you want to get started right away, cornflowers, hibiscus, and hollyhocks work especially well, but you can always experiment with whatever you have on hand.
3. Paint, paint, paint
Now it’s time for the fun part. Dip your brushes—or those little fingers—into paint or your homemade watercolors and let your imagination run wild. Paint the eggs with beautiful patterns, zebra stripes, or just your favorite colors.
4. The finishing touch
Once the paint is dry, you can add eyes or feathers to the eggs and transform them into funny animals, little Easter chicks, or cool fantasy characters. Young children will especially love this. You can also go on a nature hunt for small leaves or flowers to decorate the eggs with. Just remember to attach them while the paint is still wet.
Finish by tying a string around a toothpick and pushing it through the hole in the egg. Hang your Easter eggs around the vacation home and let them bring joy to young and old alike.
