Be at one with nature - outside as well as inside

Skagen, Denmark

Highlights and descriptions have been auto-translated from Danish

Highlights from Trine & Henrik

  1. The view from the cottage's large window over the dunes to the North Sea is very special all year round
  2. The large terrace around the house with sunrise in the east and sunset in the west
  3. The contrast between the wide sandy beach with high dunes and the open spaces and Skagen's vibrant life with restaurants and cultural life

The summer house in Kandestederne is located in the middle of the dunes in the raw nature with the North Sea in front and Råbjerg Mile in the 'backyard'. Here you will find the most beautiful sunsets at all times of the year and the tranquillity is very special. The kilometre long and wide beach with the fresh water of the North Sea and the dunes make even the most beautiful postcards superfluous. Just 14 km north of the cottage is Skagen. You can get there through the beautiful unspoilt Hulsig Hede - either by car or by bike. The cycle path is beautifully laid out and takes you through impressive scenery. In Skagen you will find shopping in specialty shops, a wide variety of restaurants and music for the part of the family that wants to spice up the cottage holiday with that kind of experiences. The location for the cosy cottage is atypical for Kandestederne, where you will rarely find a lawn perfect for playing ball combined with the raw nature of dunes, reeds and sand. The house is perfectly situated in the middle of the peace, nature and the buzz of summer life with only 900 metres to the beach and Råbjerg Mile respectively. In winter, the gathering point is around the wood stove with the beautiful and dark winter outside the windows. You can enjoy the view of the dunes from the living room, kitchen and loft - and whatever the season, it's a breathtaking sight.

Meet your host

Trine & Henrik

Host since March 2021

We are a family of 4 from Skagen. Henrik was born and raised in Skagen. Trine is from South Zealand and moved to Skagen when she met Henrik in 2005. Together we have 2 children Christian, now 15 years old and Anne-Mai, 11 years old. We all have a very special relationship with cottage life. For many years we have crossed Denmark from Skagen to Vordingborg to enjoy our family summer house. Our relationship with cottage life has led us to buy another one in Kandestederne, which is much closer to our home here in Skagen. It's a cottage with just the right atmosphere - for us. We come here to be together, relax and recharge amidst the raw nature. The sky is the limit and it gives us new energy. It's all about the peace and the view. We love spending time in the area. In Kandestederne is the cosy Hjorts Hotel, where in summer you can sit in the garden until late evening under stars and fairy lights. We also enjoy the sunset from the Ice Bunker, which is definitely worth a visit too.
