More visibility without extra work: Katrina’s experience with Extended marketing
How do you get more guests to book your holiday home — without making hosting more complex? With Extended marketing, your holiday home is shown on other booking platforms without you having to do anything differently. Bookings, calendar and communication all continue through Landfolk, so as a host you can manage everything in one place.
Katrina’s holiday home near Aarhus has been part of Landfolk since 2021. Set in peaceful surroundings, the house is designed with togetherness and simplicity in mind — a place where guests can retreat, spend time together and find calm close to nature.
When Katrina activated Extended marketing in January 2025, it wasn’t about changing the way she hosts. It was about giving her holiday home a better chance of being discovered by the guests already looking for the kind of stay she offers.
“I was curious to increase the visibility of my holiday home and create a more stable booking calendar — especially outside the high season.”
At the same time, Katrina had some natural considerations. What does it really mean when your holiday home is shown on other booking platforms? Would it mean more day-to-day administration? Would she lose some control? And would it change the type of guests booking the house?
“I especially wondered whether I would lose some control over the bookings, and whether it would mean more work in day-to-day life. I was also mindful of whether it would change the type of guests.”
A simple solution in practice
In practice, Katrina found that Extended marketing worked more simply than she had first imagined. When her holiday home is shown on other booking platforms through Landfolk, she still has the full overview in one place.
Calendar, communication and the booking flow are still handled through Landfolk, so Katrina does not have to manage multiple platforms herself or change her habits as a host.
She describes it as something that has “worked seamlessly” and does not feel “like an extra task”. In her experience, getting the most out of Extended marketing is mainly about keeping the calendar updated — something she was already doing anyway.
Since activating it, Katrina’s holiday home has become available through external booking channels such as Booking.com, Airbnb and HomeToGo. Today, around one in four bookings come from external channels — without Katrina having to manage multiple platforms herself.
“I’ve experienced increased visibility and more enquiries. It has had a particularly positive effect during periods when demand used to be lower.”
Still in control of bookings and guests
One of Katrina’s main considerations before getting started was whether greater visibility would also mean less control, or whether it would change the type of guests booking her holiday home. But that has not been her experience.
“I still feel that I have full control and can make sure the right guests are booking.”
For Katrina, that is an important part of the experience. Her holiday home can reach further, while she still has an overview of the calendar, bookings and guests. Extended marketing has therefore not made hosting feel more overwhelming. Instead, it has become a natural part of the way she hosts.
For other hosts considering Extended marketing, Katrina’s recommendation is simple:
“I would recommend giving it a try — especially if you want greater visibility and more bookings without extra work.”
If Extended marketing is also relevant for your holiday home, you can activate it directly in My Landfolk under Settings and Marketing.
